Johnstone Supply is a distributor of heating and air conditioning equipment, parts, and supplies, serving Nevada, Arizona, and Mississippi markets. These states are HOT and we love supplying our parts to the contractors that keep schools, businesses, and homes comfortable. We can t change the weather, but we are daily doing our part to keep the indoors perfect temperature year-round.
What a good day looks like:
A good day would begin with greeting your team of accounting professionals and chatting about what is going on in their lives. Then, once in your office, you would review the schedule for closing and your calendar to see what projects need to be completed today. After reviewing the appropriate reports, you would take time to recognize those employees who produced exceptional work. You in turn would expect to be recognized for the awesome job you did completing the financial reports that you just submitted to the CFO. You would feel satisfaction as you are able to answer the questions that the CFO poses to you regarding the reports. You would feel excited as the CFO explains a new project to discover the best way to react to changing conditions and new opportunities. Your team would pull together to complete the project on time and then celebrate together the victory. You would leave for the day, satisfied that you accomplished your goals, and eager for tomorrow to come, to work on the next goal.

  • Bachelor s degree in a related field

              Who you would work with:
              You would report to the CFO, Dennis, who has been with the company for 12 years, and seen it grow from selling $20 Million a year to over $90 Million this year. He loves the exciting work we do, but also loves being in the outdoors with his family camping, hiking, boating, and swimming.
              Where we work:
              Our office is located at 4144 West Sunset Rd, Las Vegas, NV, 89118, and is open from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm. We built the building about 3 years ago and designed it to be a comfortable place to work efficiently as we continue to grow. With 13 locations in 3 states, this role includes some distance communication. The owners Frank and Michelle have offices near yours and their door is always open. You will manage a team of 5 A/R and A/P Clerks, including a remote team member in our Jackson, MS branch. The full job description is attached if you would like to review it.

              Accounting Duties
              • Ensures that internal controls are strictly adhered to, and that the financial statements can be relied upon for accurate information.
              • Ensure that AR Clerks are managing credit limits, releasing orders, and following all company credit policies. AR Clerks make collection phone calls and record their conversations in our ERP software. The controller will review the aging reports and hold accountable the AR clerks for making all the appropriate calls, letters, and legal forms and documenting these in our ERP system.
              • Ensure that all cash handling policies are followed at every location and with all the staff, and that deposits are prepared timely and within the requirements of the bank and our policies.
              • Ensure that AP Clerks are managing their vendors and paying them inside of their terms and that all supportive documents and approvals are properly stored in the ERP Software.
              • Ensure that all payments are accurately made in accordance with company policies.
              • Monitor warranties and credits to see that items are processed in a timely manner.
              • Supervise the Administrative assistant with their role of making deposits, ordering materials, filing notices, scheduling events, and reporting.
              • Complete month end reporting including bank reconciliations, Credit Card reconciliations, Fuel Usage Reports, Interbranch transfers, and Transfer Exchange reconciliation,
              • Compute and file Sales Tax Returns, Personal Property Tax Returns, Business Licenses, and Permits.
              • Prepare any needed Journal entries for the CFO.
              • Monitor Queues and Metrics to see that work is completed and that employees continue to improve.
              • Monitor strategic national accounts for the company.
              • Oversee the accurate running of physical Inventories at all locations, providing the accurate information needed for financial reporting.
              • Lead the efforts to forecasting and budgeting forecasting a rolling 12 months of revenues, expenses, profits, and cash.
              • Prepare inhouse financial statements by the 10th of each month for the prior month. Other Office Duties
                • Manages and at times performs day-to-day clerical and office functions as needed, which may include reporting, filing, data-processing, sorting incoming mail, answering phones, preparing written and electronic correspondence, coordinating activities, scheduling, monitoring and purchasing office supplies, and other clerical duties.
                • May provide administrative and clerical support to management and other departments, which may include sales, operations, branch locations, purchasing, accounting and warranty processing.
                • Assists with special duties and assignments as needed to support the efficient functioning of the store or group, as assigned by the CFO. Team Management
                  • Establishes, communicates, and models performance expectations for all store team members. Institutes goals for performance and encourages employees to create self-set goals.
                  • Ensures performance expectations are met by monitoring reports, gathering feedback from customers, and observing performance.
                  • Assumes accountability for the department in meeting performance goals.
                  • Ensures vendors and customers receive prompt, professional service both in person and over the phone by establishing standards, monitoring interaction quality, and enforcing standards.
                  • Holds employees accountable for department and self-set goals. Performs formal periodic staff reviews. Provides routine informal feedback to manage employee performance. Takes corrective action as necessary and rewards employees when appropriate. Regularly holds individual performance discussions (i.e. One-On-Ones ) with direct reports.
                  • Ensures team members are up-to-date and knowledgeable regarding policies and procedures by holding regular meetings, and continually providing information and status reports.
                  • Participates in the hiring, recruiting and interview processes to identify qualified candidates within established processes and guidelines.
                  • Ensures team members have the knowledge and skills needed to perform their jobs by providing regular training. Provides learning opportunities to develop employees for promotion.
                  • Ensures adequate staffing levels to meet business needs by establishing working schedules, approving vacation, and cross-training employees to fill in when needed. Reviews appropriate staffing levels with management to optimize productivity. Contributes to the employee development plans for all managed employees. General Results and Responsibilities
