YOUR MISSION (The Job Description):

The Accountant reports to Mohegan Casino Nevada ("MGNV") and performs accounting and bookkeeping duties including without limitation preparation and maintenance of financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations and account analyses. As well, this position assures adherence to generally accepted accounting principles. This position is also responsible for reviewing the daily work of the Auditing staff to ensure completeness and compliance with casino rules and regulations for MGNVs' casino operation located inside Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

Requirements

THE NITTY-GRITTY (The Essential Job Duties):

• Assist the Accounting Supervisor, Manager and Auditors in the preparation of daily and monthly journal entries
• Review and report related revenues and expenses
• Prepare account analyses and daily reports for management providing estimated revenue and expense information
• Ensure compliance with Standards of Operation and Management, Minimum Internal Control Standards and department policies and procedures
• Prepare supporting documentation for the month end close package
• Responsible for the timely filing and payment requests of gaming taxes for Mohegan Sun Casino
• Oversee all scanning room and records retention operationsWHAT IT TAKES (The Qualities We Look For)
  • Bachelors' Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • Two years of experience in an Accounting department in a high volume, complex casino or hospitality related industry
  • Working knowledge of GAAP
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes OxleyMUST HAVE'S
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
    • Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
    • In lieu of a Degree and previously mentioned experience, four years of experience in an Accounting department in a high volume, complex casino or hospitality related industry may be considered
    • Competencies: Incumbent will master the following competencies while in this position:
    • Understanding of daily and monthly journal entries
    • Knowledge of MGNV department policies and procedures
    • Intermediate knowledge of IGT systems
    • Knowledge of Standards of Operations and Management, and Minimum Internal Control Standards
    • Understanding of internal operating procedures and controlsTHE WORKING CONDITIONS
      • Office work environment
      • Must be able to sit in front of a computer screen for extended periods of time
      • Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours
