For more information, visit us on line at: http://www.unlv.eduCOMMITMENT to DIVERSITYThe successful candidate will demonstrate support for diversity, equity and inclusiveness as well as participate in maintaining a respectful, positive work environment.ROLE of the POSITIONThe Financial Specialist will be responsible for the administration of all financial aspects of the UNLV Research Foundation (UNLVRF), including but not limited to general accounting, financial projections and budgeting, working with outside agency to complete annual audit and tax reporting, accounts payable/receivable, processing of checks and other payments, coordination of donations, ensuring policies and procedures are documented and adhered to, and award compliance. The position will also be responsible for overseeing financial matters for the UNLV Office of Economic Development related to royalty sharing agreements, distribution, and invoicing.

A significant aspect of this job will require the management of federal awards. Therefore, previous demonstrated grants management experience and understanding of federal regulatory policy, cost accounting standards, and 2 CFR 200 (previously A-133) audit compliance are preferred. Position will interact with third party administration consultant to ensure metrics of specific construction award are being met. Responsible for on-time reporting of third party consultant; accurate reporting for semi-annual financial reports and quarterly project reports submitted to the Economic Development Administration (EDA); coordinate with UNLV real estate office for review of property documents; coordinate with external legal counsel for review of property agreements, permits, as well as other general non-award related documents; interaction with regional EDA office/project manager to transmit requested reports and other documents, as well as communicate to clarify requests.

Additionally, this position will coordinate compliance of license agreement milestone payments and invoicing for the Office of Economic Development. Finally, this position will be responsible for tracking financial transactions related to collaborative efforts between UNLV and private partners as part of Black Fire Innovation. KNOWLEDGERequired

  • Five years or more of professional accounting services
  • Experience in preparing financial statements for audit
  • Proficiency in developing budgets, forecasts and cost projections
    • Experience with grants management
    • Accounting and business and project managementPreferred
      • Experience with 'Single Audit' requirements under 2 CFR 200 (previously A-133)
      • Experience working in higher education
        • Experience with engineering or construction projects
        • Experience in preparing non-profit financial statements and Form 990SKILLSRequired
          • Proficiency using accounting software (QuickBooks or similar)
          • Strong financial modeling skills
          • Proficiency with MS Excel and Word
            • Self-directed with ability to work independently, accurately and efficiently, with an eye for detail
            • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
            • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
            • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple concurrent projectsPreferred
              • Notary, or ability to obtain notary license

                  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or related fieldPREFERRED
