This position entails significant interaction with athletes, medical providers and insurance companies to ensure appropriate medical care and proper, timely processing of medical claims. Coordinates all aspects of medical claims processing for athletes, including coordination of efforts with individual service providers and insurance companies. Coordinates all aspects of scheduling of appointments for athletes, provides updates and researches information pertaining to injury and claims. Obtains necessary information from athletes and maintains information according to company policy and HIPAA regulations. Researches and identifies appropriate Trauma hospitals in the city of each event in advance of the event. Contacts EMT services in advance of the event and discusses UFC service requirements, setup, availability, etc. Attends events to arrange transport and treatment of injured athletes as scheduled. Alternates events with other team members. At assigned events, meets with commission doctors and EMTs on the day of event and shadows commission doctors during event. Prepares reports regarding athlete injuries, status of medical conditions and claims information regularly. Routinely follows up with assigned athletes. Works with the state’s athletic commission to lift athlete’s medical suspensions. Other related duties as assigned. You Have These: 2-3 years of experience processing medical claims or otherwise working with similar information. Experience submitting health insurance claims for health care provider helpful. Knowledge and/or education pertaining to medical terminology. Knowledge and/or experience with ICD9 and CPT codes. Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form. Associates degree preferred. Excellent organization skills and attention to detail. Ability to maintain discretion and confidential information. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook and ability to learn other basic computer programs. Ability to multi-task. Bilingual Preferred.
