In Nevada, NV Energy is responsible for supporting and maintaining large portions of this electrical grid. Join the team that provides engineering expertise and support for the safe, flexible, and reliable operation of thermal power plants for the State of Nevada. A number of these power plants rely on us to provide sound technical guidance and support. We are looking for independent thinkers to provide solutions and to improve existing situations. We work hard to ensure that when you flip that switch, the lights turn on. Basic PurposeProvides routine technical support to the power generation stations. Improves industrial equipment and system operating reliability, flexibility, and efficiency through the maintenance and improvement of critical mechanical equipment. Provides guidance on project cost estimates and economic analysis for the benefit of planning and budgeting departments. Provides mentorship to less experienced team members.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCoordinates, implements, and oversees inspection, maintenance, and testing tasks to properly maintain and protect critical power plant mechanical equipment, such as: - Rotating Equipment: Gas Turbines and Steam Turbines -- Pressure Equipment: Boilers, Power Piping, Pressure Vessels, and Safety Devices- PumpsAssists in the development operating and maintenance standards to improve operating reliability, flexibility, and efficiency of generating facilities.Responds to equipment failures to understand the problem, determine the best solution, and implement the fix. Provides engineering recommendations to improve the flexibility and resiliency of power plant components and systems.Inspects and evaluates generating equipment and process conditions and prepares forward projections of operating and maintenance requirements to optimize production.Provides training of operating, maintenance, and engineering staff as needed for power generation fleet.Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes, and regulations applicable to position and company. Performs related duties as assigned. - Requirements Essential Education, Skills, and EnvironmentEducation and Work ExperienceBachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in engineering and 5 years related experience with a PE license. If no PE license, then 8 years related industry experience.Specialized Knowledge and SkillsDemonstrated knowledge of:--- Major power plant components, controls, and protection systems.--- Root cause and risk analysis.Demonstrated skills such as:--- Process thinkingEquipment and ApplicationsPCs, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. -Work Environment and Physical DemandsGeneral office environment. May require work near moving parts, in outdoor weather conditions, and near extreme heat. Some exposure to loud noises required. Some overnight travel required. Compensation Annual Salary: $98,200.00 (Min) to $115,500.00 (Mid); Up to 15% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company.
