Job Description:

Are you interested in working in a cutting-edge industry, where you can develop globally valued skills and apply your maths and statistics knowledge to improving healthcare?

If so, BresMed is offering an exciting opportunity to join our Statistics team.

About BresMed:

Health economics is a rapidly developing and increasingly important field due to aging populations and the increasing burden of healthcare. The tools developed by health economists are widely used for evaluating the clinical and economic value of drugs and devices. This process requires economists, statisticians and clinical writers with a capacity for finding creative solutions to challenging problems. Solving such problems necessitates statistical expertise, as well as an in-depth understanding of the theoretical frameworks employed to assess value in a healthcare setting.

BresMed is a health economic and outcomes research (HEOR) consultancy that works with pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturers, helping them demonstrate the clinical and economic value of their products to governments and other healthcare payers and providers. BresMed's core services include developing health economic models, which use cutting-edge economic and statistical methodology, and developing market access materials, including reimbursement and value dossiers.

We aim to deliver high-quality and innovative research solutions, working closely with clients to develop economic models and analyses for early product development and submission to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, the Scottish Medicines Consortium and the National Centre for Pharmacoeconomics, as well as other European and national authorities. We have fostered strong links with academia in the UK and other European countries, and we pride ourselves on developing innovative and cutting-edge methodologies.

With our head office in Sheffield we employ over 150 people in the UK, India, Ireland, the Netherlands and the US. Our office dynamic is intellectually stimulating and focused on delivering excellence within a vibrant culture where everybody matters. Many of our team join us as graduates, and we believe in developing our employees and offering them responsibility from an early stage in their careers, enabling accelerated progression in a supportive environment.

We are seeking a consultancy-experienced client-facing statistician with the enthusiasm, vision and flexibility in approach required to play a key and influential role within the Statistics team. The right candidate will enjoy investigating new methods, supporting and coaching other statisticians, and be able/willing to contribute to the evolution of the Statistics team internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: leading statistical input and providing expert guidance to projects, developing statistical analysis plans, performing and reporting statistical analysis as standalone research or for input into health economic models that will provide direct information to clients, and governing/reimbursement bodies and/or for publication. Common types of analyses/projects performed include, but are not restricted to:
Survival analyses:
Parametric survival analyses
Flexible parametric survival models
Mixture cure modelling
Adjustments from treatment switch/cross-over within clinical trials
Indirect treatment comparisons (e.g. NMAs, MAICs, Fractional polynomials)
Analyses of clinical trial data (e.g. quality of life)
Analyses of observational data/real world evidence
Statistical input into reimbursement submissions to health technology agencies

The successful candidate should be motivated to learn and apply new methodologies and techniques in the evolving field of health technology assessment and reimbursement.

Close collaboration, both within the Statistics team and cross-functionally with the Evidence Review, Insights, Advanced Analytics and Health Economics teams, is an essential part of the role. Furthermore, this role is client-facing, and you will be required to contribute directly to business development via input into proposals to clients.

The role can be tailored to an individual candidate's strengths and aspirations, but will include a mix of roles and responsibilities, including strategic input and oversight of statistical content on projects, collaboration internally and externally with experts in specific fields, programming, writing (planning, reporting, manuscripts and submission documents), quality control, mentoring, training, and for the suitable candidate, there are line management opportunities.
