Summary Duties and Responsibilities: Provide accurate and timely financial reports as required for assigned properties. Oversee all accounting cycles and functions ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting. Interact with and train property personnel enabling them to provide high-quality financial information. Essential Functions and Work Duties: _The following essential functions of this position are performed personally, in cooperation with the supervisor, and/or in coordination with other staff.__Additional work functions and duties may be assigned._ Prepare monthly financial packages for assigned properties, including preparation of journal entries, maintenance of supporting schedules, analysis of revenue & expenses, and preparation of bank reconciliations. Review the accuracy of transactions posted in the general ledger by other accounting personnel. Review the accuracy of move-ins and move-outs for Assisted Living properties, as assigned. Edit and post all charge batches for all assigned properties as provided by property managers. Assist district directors, property managers, and accounting staff with questions including tenant charges, financial statement charges, and various other accounting issues as they arise. Assist property managers with deposit accounting regarding tenant waitlists and tenant charges. Correct tenant ledgers and update HAP charges as necessary. Cut checks as necessary for assigned properties. Assist in the preparation and review of the property non-operating budgets as assigned. Prepare the annual audit packages and respond to audit requests, as assigned. Post monthly statements for Assisted Living properties, as assigned. Provide Yardi instruction, assistance, and guidance to the accounting and operational staff, as needed. Provide general ledger accounting training to HPMC staff as needed. Set up new vendors in Yardi as approved by the District Directors and VP of Assisted Living. Other Functions and Work Duties: Perform other duties from time to time as may be determined necessary for the well-being of the total operation. Coordinate specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments in order to ensure the smooth and accurate flow of work and information. Perform tasks that are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed upon individual circumstances. Qualifications and Skills Required: _To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions._ Education and/or Experience: BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or Business, preferred but not required. With a BA/BS degree must have a minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible accounting experience. In lieu of the degree must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible accounting experience and demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Prefer previous experience in property management. Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to read, write and speak in English. Proficient with Microsoft Excel. Proficient with Microsoft Word. Proficient with Yardi, preferred but not required. 10-key by touch. Strong attention to detail and effective use of time. Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and grasp concepts quickly. Strong written and oral communication skills. Working knowledge of accrual basis accounting. Ability to grasp and perform complex accounting functions. Working knowledge of property management accounting practices preferred. Ability to work as part of a team and get along well with others. Initiative in managing workload and problem-solving. Physical Requirements: Stooping - frequently bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles. Kneeling - frequently bending legs at knees to come to rest on knee or knees. Reaching - frequently extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Handling - frequently seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands. Ability to transport files up to approximately 30 pounds. Ability to lift files up to 30 pounds from the ground level to 4 feet in height, and move them from shelf to shelf in storage. Walking - moving about on foot to accomplish tasks. Regularly required to use hand to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear using telephone, computer keyboard, mouse and calculator while seated at a desk.
