Originally founded in 1996 as a local affiliate of the national "I Have a Dream" - Foundation, we reorganized in 2014 to become CORE and expand support for young people to find their passion, excel in school, and develop character and social skills that support lifelong success. In addition to fostering brilliant minds and futures, we work with partners to coordinate services that strengthen students' families and households. We also build the community by engaging caring adults to serve as mentors and harnessing young people's power for good through extensive community service.

In the coming years, CORE will continue to grow and evolve, welcome a new class of student Scholars, and develop a purpose-built community learning center facility.

*Position Summary: *
The Development Manager is responsible for managing and supporting a comprehensive fundraising department and program that includes: capital and annual giving campaigns; donor identification, stewardship, and solicitation; special events; and fundraising-related communications and marketing.

*Description of Position: *


* Collaborates with and supports the Executive Director, Outreach Director, and Chief Executive Officer
* Participates in development meetings and executes and manages donor plans.
* Creates and reports on budgets and program narratives to support fundraising needs.
* Works with Outreach Director and other staff to plan and execute successful donor engagements and fundraising events.
* Works with Outreach Director in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting donors.
* Works alongside the Grant Writer and Grants Manager to secure funding and ensures proposals are submitted in a timely manner.

Donor Prospecting, Stewarding, and Soliciting

* Identify prospective individual, family, and corporate donors, and develop individualized donor plans.
* Maintains relationships with prospective and current donors.
* Manages commitments from new and recurring donors.
* Participates in meeting with prospective (private and corporate) donors and supporters with the Outreach Director.
* Participates in committees and think tanks to assist in creating awareness of the CORE Model.

Department and Process Management

* Manages major gifts and planned giving programs.
* Assists in developing and managing annual and planned giving programs.
* Maintains gift recognition program.
* Monitors and updates database and tracking systems; creates reports as needed.
* Upholds donor-focused culture and processes.
* Works across departments to align fundraising and program needs/opportunities by identifying potential partners, in-kind resources, mentors, and volunteers to meet the partnership needs of the model.
* Supports and adheres to annual department budget and maximizes efficiencies.

Communication & Marketing

* Develops and collaborates in the creation and maintenance of fundraising collateral and materials.
* Assists in creating content for communications platforms and tools that support fundraising activities, such as websites and newsletters.
* Executes annual calendar of all direct mail solicitations, writing and mailing all written funds/contribution requests.
* Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about CORE with the community.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

*Required Qualifications and Qualities: *

* Must embrace the mission of CORE, powered by The Rogers Foundation, and be an equity-focused, anti-racism champion focusing on collective impact and partnerships.

* At least three years of experience in professional fundraising or sales with a demonstrated track record for success and at least one year in management.
* This position directly reports to the Executive Director and does not need to come to the organization with a roster of contacts/donors but must have a proven track record of securing funding or a successful background in sales.
* Strong facilitation, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
* Successful and efficient when working independently, as well as when working collaboratively.
* Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
* Proficient with computer applications, including Apple and Microsoft, and able to learn and master other computer technology/software programs as needed.
* Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize projects and work on several projects simultaneously; ability
* Self-motivated and goal-oriented, and efficient and accurate in completing tasks on time.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision and escalate issues as needed.
* Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed and reasonably.
* Understand how to utilize a CRM platform and continue to seek ways to integrate the CRM into the daily operations and function of fundraising.

*Preferred Qualifications and Qualities: *

* Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Communications, Non-Profit Management, or related.
* Experience in communications or marketing.
* Experience in working with residents in high-poverty neighborhoods.
* Working knowledge of education and social services best practices and local landscape.
* Familiarity with Salesforce.
