Primary Responsibilities:


  • Drive the alignment and prioritization of cross-team, cross-functional work streams in collaboration with Capabilities, Governance and Operations leadership, identifying, and addressing dependencies in a timely manner across all work streams
  • Promote and drive Agile development methodology throughout the team/s
  • Stays abreast of new emerging technology capabilities and leverages knowledge in contributing to product solutions
  • Make measurable improvements to engineering's delivery capabilities through qualitative methods (e.g., weekly updates) and quantitative methods, including measuring and tracking engineering performance using metrics and KPIs
  • Accountable for aligning teams thru development of communications, socialization, and education of objectives and detailed requirements guiding team members to accomplish objectives
  • Reviews, accepts, and prioritizes feedback and new requirements from project stakeholders
  • Ensure that team deliverables meet agreed-upon standards for quality and non-functional requirements, and that the products meet the stated business need
  • Assists team(s) to break down Features into detailed user stories - level stories consumable and testable by a scrum team
  • Collaborate with business partners in usability testing and the development of the user design
  • Defines and analyzes metrics that measure performance of Engineering and team deliverables
  • Manage performance and provided overall guidance on NPS and KPIs and user satisfaction engagement surveys to set goals and track progress
  • Lead the Software Engineering team maximizing individual performance and team effectiveness, including career development, performance review and cultivating a positive and enjoyable work environment
  • Lead the team through transition, problem solving and organizational change
  • Find and make room for fun, at this time in our work it is critical we find some fun across large teams, the ability to bring fun for on and offshore team members will be critical to our long-term success
  • Other duties, as assigned

    Required Qualifications:


    • 10+ years experience in software development
    • 8+ years experience leading full stack and data engineering teams
    • 5+ years of experience with ITSM processes (Incident/Problem/Request/Change Management)
    • 5+ years of experience with DevOps
    • 4+ years of experience with Full Stack Engineering best-practices and experience in the following technologies:

      • Stargate (Auth r JWT authentication)
      • Azure/ Google Cloud Platform / AWS
      • Kubernetes
      • Docker
      • Antifactory
      • Jenkins
      • NodeJS, Fastify library for APIs
      • Redis database used for caching
      • Kafka for integration layer (still ding discovery here)
      • Splunk and Grafana for monitoring and alerting
      • PostgreSQL for DataMart




        Preferred Qualifcations:


        • Proven project/program leadership experience, including ability to build effective teams comprised of internal and vendor sourced resources
        • Demonstrated knowledge of infrastructure design, implementation, administration, planning, developing
        • Track record of collaborating with multiple stakeholders to achieve sustainable outcomes because of operating project management capability
        • Demonstrated skills in strategic and critical thinking, negotiating and relationship building
        • Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships across IT teams to ensure commitment and cooperation throughout project life cycle
        • Demonstrated ability to provide executive views int team competency, performance, development, and outcomes
        • Solid team and individual caching and mentoring skills
        • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills
        • Demonstrated knowledge of application design, application development and implementation
        • Excellent human relations skills to effectively interact with leadership and management, peers, business partners and vendors

          Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, or New York City Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $97,300 to $176,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada / New York City residents is $97,300 to $176,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
