Job Description The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Director, Project FOCUS and Rebel Upward, College of Education [R0136844].ROLE of the POSITION The University of Nevada Las Vegas College of Education and Department of Early Childhood, Multilingual, and Special Education, seeks an experienced educator to become the next Director of the Project FOCUS program with responsibility for overall leadership and management of the program.
    -Project FOCUS -is an inclusive, supportive, post-secondary program offering a two-year or four-year curriculum to students with intellectual and developmental disabilities who begin the program between 18-23 years of age. The Director of -Project FOCUS -will supervise all aspects of the program, including the Academic, Employment, Housing, and Community Involvement components of the program.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing program leadership by identifying trends within the inclusive postsecondary field; overseeing the recruitment, application, acceptance and review process of incoming students; communicating and collaborating with university partners and external stakeholders; conducting on-going program evaluation and providing written status reports to leadership as needed; coordinating research requests; and participating in public speaking engagements to promote Project FOCUS. Additionally, the candidate will provide overall personnel management of staff that will include recruiting, hiring, and supervising of professional and support staff; and provide resource management by developing, monitoring, and providing budget planning and fiscal management. When applicable, the candidate will identify and prepare grant proposals when funding is available. The candidate will manage crisis situations, in partnership with all stakeholders, as needed.PROFILE of the DEPARTMENT/COLLEGEThe Department of Early Childhood, Multilingual, and Special Education is comprised of a diverse faculty committed to developing innovative ideas through research, teaching, and service that improve the quality of life and educational experience for young children, multilingual learners, and individuals with disabilities from diverse backgrounds. We offer vibrant undergraduate and graduate programs in the areas of early childhood education, English language learning, and special education. Additionally, our department is home to two research centers (i.e., the Lynn Bennett Early Childhood Education Center, the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders) and several large externally-funded projects focused on the integration of inclusive, evidence-based instruction to support diverse individuals in public school settings.
