Position Details
The Project Controls Manager will direct and support a team that
manages day-to-day project control initiatives surrounding project
creation, budgets, purchase orders, unit invoicing, data
governance, reporting, and project closure. This position will also
lead reporting on cost & schedule for projects, ensuring compliance
to controls procedures and supporting project delivery. The
successful candidate will be an analytical, data-driven problem
solver with the drive to introduce value and create innovative
solutions. The role requires a smart, motivated, change agent with
the ability to influence stakeholders, build collaborative
partnerships necessary to define & implement project reporting
procedures related to mission-critical projects throughout the US
for Tilson's high-profile telecommunication clients.
Telecommunications experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Directly manage a team of specialists and coordinators
- Ensure programs and project are set up timely and
consistently
- Ensure team requests purchase orders timely, and that team
generates invoices request real-time as production completes
- Monitor financial health and status of projects and
programs
- Lead training initiatives across the enterprise surrounding
project controls
- Assist Project Managers and the project team in effectively and
proactively managing projects to ensure project success.
- Develops the Work Breakdown Structures for control and
integrity of work to be performed as defined by the contract.
- Develop, maintain, and execute project performance
baselines.
- Perform cost estimating, analysis, and control activities.
- Prepare & disseminate aggregated weekly & monthly reports on
cost performance, trends, forecasts, and cost savings.
- Develop and maintain project schedules.
- Assists in the development of recommended recovery measures for
projects behind schedule and/or over budget.
- Analyzes variances in cost and schedule performance against the
plan, and communicates the reasons for the issuance of variance and
proposed mitigation plans
- Reviews schedules developed by others and advise project
managers as to whether those schedules are logical, complete, and
satisfy contract requirements.
- Prepare detailed schedule reports as required (e.g., critical
path view, baseline vs. actual, look ahead view, milestone
view).
- Provide support for data analysis, data validation & data
mining efforts required to refine benchmarks.
- Coordinates the review of Project Risk with management and
provides status reporting.
- Support the Project Manager and project team in organizational
and administrative activities. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of related project
controls/scheduler analyst in the Telecommunication and/or
Construction fields
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Innovative, motivated, organized, high-energy team player.
- Team player with demonstrated professional & interpersonal
skills interfacing with all levels of the organization, clients &
vendors.
- Strategically oriented, inquisitive, and comfortable
challenging status quo. Strong executive presence, demonstrated
leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to build
effective relationships and influence peers and key
stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and quickly
pivot in response to evolving priorities.
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills and
abilities. In addition, the successful candidate must be a team
player who is willing to help others on the team. He/she will have
strong organizational skills, be a self-starter, and have the
ability to work proactively and independently, handling routine
tasks with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work extended hours as needed, with
approximately 20% travel within the US
- Valid Drivers License Required.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly,
Microsoft Excel).
