The Executive Director, Health Equity formulates policies and procedures within the health plan that promotes a healthcare ecosystem that is fair and accessible to all.-- Coordinates with outside agencies and communities for programs that benefits the health of the membership.-- Advocates with state entities for policies that promot equity.-- Chairs mutliple advisory committees representing the health plan and stakeholders to advance care among the entire population.-- Subject matter on health equity and best practices in the other states or localities.----

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides visionary leadership and contributes to the successful advancement of culture, health equity and social responsibility principles. Responsible for being a champion of culture, cultivating innovation, being resilient, and inspiring others
  • Builds and deploys strategies and initiatives that identifies structural racism and reduce implicit, explicit and institutional bias experienced by people of color
  • Consult and align with State partners and constituents serving as Community & State New Mexico health plan link to established enterprise communities (such as Culture Ambassadors and I&D Councils and other emerging groups) and deploys those efforts within Minnesota health plan as appropriate to enhance culture, health equity and social responsibility
  • Identifies health disparities experienced by New Mexico Medicaid populations and works with internal and external partners to build solutions that address and reduce those disparities
  • Demonstrates organizational agility and understands how the business operates and can identify and interpret business levers. Creates experiences that shape and grow the organizations' culture programs and capabilities
  • Develops emerging capabilities and keeps pace with the changing nature of Culture & Health Equity within and outside of UHG. Develops and deploys a Culture & Health Equity success profile, and a transfer of competence skill and competency building model to equip people to make a positive impact on Culture & Health Equity
  • Drives engagement and identifies and seeks opportunities to celebrate and communicate Culture, Health Equity and Social Responsibility to enable active change agents throughout the organization, especially within the care delivery organizations--

    • Bachelor's degree
    • 5+ years of experience leading and developing broad scale organizational / enterprise diversity, inclusion and equity strategies--
    • 5+ years of experience interfacing with Senior Leadership team--
    • 5+ years of experience addressing health disparity and/or health equity concerns--
    • 5+ years of experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools--
    • 5+ years of experience working with Medicaid and/or Medicare programs-----
    • Experience working in a matrix environment--
    • Experience working with and influencing all levels of employees; inspiring others to engage, participate and act--
    • Proven excellent communication skills - verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and facilitation along with written message development--
    • Proven track record of effectively managing conflict, resolving issues, mitigating risks and influencing leaders--
    • Reside in New Mexico or willing to relocate

      Preferred Qualification:
      • Master's in Business / Healthcare Administration, Public Health or related field ---
