The accounting manager role within Individual and Family Plans will be primarily responsible for the management of variety of different accounting related projects related to billing and enrollment, revenue recognition, and cash application and reconciliation. --This role will support the creation and monitoring of internal controls as well as lead the development of financial transactional processes for membership, revenue, and cash reconciliation and application for complex financial markets.--

Primary Responsibilities:--

  • Own primary oversight of all financial/accounting controls around monthly membership, revenue, and cash accounting processes for individual exchange health plan(s).
  • Project management of all accounting related projects related to membership, billing, revenue recognition, cash application and reconciliation to ensure accuracy and completeness of health plan financial statements.
  • Perform both routine and ad hoc reporting and analysis for assigned health plans, taking lead on the investigation, resolution, and interpretation of issues to management--
  • Lead, Organize, Build and Own all project requirements and testing efforts
  • Support, maintain, and enhance operational and systematic changes to support business growth
  • Own primary responsibility for the fulfillment of audit (internal and external) business and control processes, as needed--
  • Support the organization's sound internal control structure around U.S. GAAP, Sarbanes - Oxley and Model Audit Rule compliance (as applicable)--
  • Liaise with core business, operational, and IT partners within the organization as needed for the completion of each project--
  • Collaborate with management with the identification and documentation of financial risks and opportunities impacting assigned health plan(s)--
  • Adapt to and manage through financial impacts of the Affordable Care Act (health care reform) to assigned health plan(s)--
  • Perform work in a both team - oriented and self - directed work environments and demonstrate ability to work with less structured, more complex issues--
  • Collaborate with team members on special projects, as needed

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and / or relevant accounting experience--
    • 5+ years of professional accounting experience--
    • Experience working with general ledger / sub-ledger accounting applications--
    • Project management experience working with various business and non-business partners
    • Solid understanding and practical application of U.S. GAAP--
    • Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)--
    • Proven ability to demonstrate solid planning and organizational skills, along with a high degree of detail orientation--
    • Proven ability to demonstrate good communication skills, both verbal and written--
    • Proven ability to assess and interpret customer needs and requirements--
    • Proven ability to work in both team and self-directed work environments--

      Preferred Qualifications:----
      • Public accounting experience and / or CPA designation--
      • Health care industry experience--
      • Proven ability to demonstrate solid planning and organizational skills, along with a high degree of detail orientation--
      • Proven ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with customers and colleagues, both internal and external--
      • Proven ability to solve moderately complex problems and / or conduct moderately complex analyses--
      • Proven ability to identify viable solutions to non-standard requests and problems--
      • Proven ability to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple concurrent projects--

        California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Washington residents is $85,000 to $167,300. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
