Accelerate your nursing career by joining our Specialty Training Apprenticeship for Registered Nurses (StaRN) program! ?We invite new graduate registered nurses to apply for a unique opportunity to be given didactic and clinical training in Medical/Surgical and Critical Care units. There is no guarantee of units that will be participating in each cohort and number of openings are dependent on needs of the facility. For specialty units ? job history and preceptor experiences will help to determine fit for the unit.?During the interview process you will meet with a panel of nursing leaders who will help to ensure the best starting point for your nursing career. You will be extended an offer for a unit prior to starting the program, please note that you will stay with your unit during your first year of employment as you complete the internship and subsequent residency to help prepare you for your career.?In our StaRN program, you will receive the education and support necessary to develop the judgment, skill and knowledge you will need to become the highest caliber nurse. During the StaRN program, you will work with instructors to complete class assignments, skills training, and simulation lab exercises. Then, you will work with your preceptor during the preceptorship that follows and have the opportunity to be receive mentoring by the best, most highly educated and trained nurses within our facilities.?For Med/Surg/Tele:?During the first five weeks of training you will be an employee of HealthTrust ? a company in the HCA family.?The first 5 weeks of the internship will consist of classroom training.For ICU/IMC:?(Please Note - this unit will?not?be offered for all cohorts)During the first six weeks of training you will be an employee of HealthTrust ? a company in the HCA family.The first 6 weeks of the internship will consist of classroom training.?If you are interested in the ICU/IMC please state on your resume previous experience in this area including preceptorship, CNA employment, Nurse Tech or Nurse Apprentice work history for review.For the ED:?(Please Note - this unit will?not?be offered for all cohorts)During the first nine weeks of training you will be an employee of HealthTrust ? a company in the HCA family.The first 9 weeks of the internship will consist of classroom training.If you are interested in the ED please state on your resume previous experience in this area including preceptorship; ED Tech work history, military medic experience, EMT and Paramedic experience preferred.??

• The cohort will be scheduled for a Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 5:00, schedule and attendance is?MANDATORY?to remain in the program. Please know that if you have pre-scheduled plans during this time frame you will be asked to apply for a later cohort to ensure that you will be able to attend all classes.
• You will receive any certifications that you will need to work in the unit you have been hired into, these include BLS and ACLS and you do not need to have these prior to starting with the facility.
• You will work with instructors on skills training to build muscle memory with these skills to help ensure a comfortable transition into the unit.
• There will be a full week of simulation lab training.
• You will spend around 25% of the time working at home with online training modules.Following the didactic learning you will be hired into the facility and work with a preceptor in the unit you were hired into. The HealthTrust trainers and the facility educators will also be on hand to work with you should you need anything during this time. The length of time for the preceptorship depends on the unit you were hired into but usually lasts from 7 to 8 weeks.
  Should you accept a position with our StaRN program you will be asked to sign an agreement for a 2 year commitment to the facility that you are hired into.

  • Currently licensed in the State of Nevada to move forward in the selection process
  • Be certified in Basic Life Support through American Heart Association
  • Trainingwill include ACLS certification, along with any other certifications required for the unit you are hired into.
  • Self-motivatedand strong communication skills required
