Overview Open & closing dates Opening and closing dates01/07/2021 to 09/30/2021 Service Excepted Pay scale & grade VM 15 Salary $115,000 to $306,600 per yearFormal pay-setting process to determine the final compensable salary (Base Pay Market Pay) Appointment type Permanent Work schedule Full-Time Duties SummaryWork Schedule: 7:00am - 7:30pm, 7 days on 7 days off.Financial Disclosure Report: Not requiredResponsibilities Duties of a Supervisory Hospitalist include, but are not limited to: Supervision and management of a team of hospitalists, including recruitment, selection of staff, orientation, preparing schedules, approving leave, resolving conflicts, day-to-day supervision, performance evaluation, etc.Provide patient care, including decisions regarding admissions, discharges, transfers to a higher level of care, referral for admission to VA from outside facilities, etc.Provide teaching for internal medicine residents, medical students, physicians assistants, etc.Participate in hospital and service level committees.Act as a liaison to other services within the hospital to ensure the smooth operation of the facility.Participate in process improvement activities, LEAN activities, EPRP, ORYX, and SAIL measures.Track administrative and quality improvement data.Coordinate clinical and administrative functions with the assistant chief of medicine and the chief of medicine.Participate in clinical research and academic activities as assigned, both with VA and the affiliated academic institutions.Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills that are commensurate with the responsibilities of the position. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.Proficiency in spoken and written English.Physical requirements outlined below.Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.Physical Requirements: Applicants must meet physical standards for the position. A physical examination prior to placement is required. This is a designated drug testing position. After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use. Requires lifting 15-44 pounds; pushing (approx. 2 hours); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers and both hands; walking and standing from 3-5 hours and kneeling. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Must have depth perception and ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of colors. Hearing aid is permitted.
