The Sr. Strategic Account Executive is an experienced account executive that has demonstrated knowledge of pharmacy benefit management activities including relationship building, contracts, client negotiations, operations, reporting, and finance. This individual must have exceptional verbal, written and presentation skill sets to effectively manage all aspects of the contract. The Sr. SAE is responsible for supporting the client's sales and growth goals which includes marketing campaigns, new products and integrated Optum programs.

The Sr. SAE will work with cross functional partners to develop and execute strategy to support client retention goals, audits, and innovation. This individual will also be responsible for coaching and mentoring team members and may have indirect client management reports. The Sr. SAE will manage performance guarantees, lead data analytic efforts, and client renewal efforts.

Primary Responsibilities:

Client Relationship and Upsell Management

  • Project Lead (e.g., global, enterprise, contract management, P&L, financial)
  • Lead reporting and present data analytics (e.g., QPR, rebate guarantees, MAC, pricing network guarantees)
  • Sales/Upsell - identify and maintain pipeline of upsell opportunities in Salesforce
  • Lead Market Check and client renewals - drive, manage, negotiate, and implement
  • Lead marketing efforts to drive growth and create upsell opportunities
  • Responsible for leadership and client communications
  • Recognizes cost avoidance opportunities and offers solutions
  • Coach and mentor team members

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
    • Experiences: PBM; tech sales/financial; complex selling skills, see big picture/problem solve
    • Concise executive level communication skills
    • Experience with PBM tools to create marketing materials, RFP responses, financial and data reporting
    • Proficient in Microsoft applications
    • Financial acumen

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • 5+ years of healthcare account management (PBM/Health Plan)
      • 3+ years of experienceusing trend data analysis to upsell products & programs to clients
      • 2+ years of experience with managing to client contracts
      • Experience delivering performance results specific to contract agreements
      • Experiece presenting to senior leadership
      • Leadership behaviors/competencies - critical thinking; conflict management., communication skills, influence; financial acumen resourceful/networks/contract acumen/presentation skills
      • Experience using Rxclaim, RxNavigator, and/or RxTrack

        Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, or New York City Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $97,300 to $176,900. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada/New York City residents is $97,300 to $176,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
