Attention all Veterinary Ophthalmologist! A highly-respected animal clinic in Las Vegas is seeking a skilled and compassionate vet specialist to join our growing team.

Key Duties

  • Diagnosing eye conditions: A veterinary ophthalmologist is responsible for diagnosing eye conditions in animals, which includes examining the animal's eyes, conducting tests and interpreting results
  • Creating treatment plans: Once an eye condition has been diagnosed, a veterinary ophthalmologist will work with the animal's owner to create a treatment plan that is tailored to the animal's specific needs. This may involve medication, surgery, or a combination of both
  • Performing eye surgery: In cases where an eye condition requires surgical intervention, a veterinary ophthalmologist will perform the necessary surgery and provide follow-up care
  • Providing emergency care: A veterinary ophthalmologist may provide emergency care for animals with eye injuries or sudden onset eye conditions
  • Collaborating with other veterinarians: A veterinary ophthalmologist may work closely with other veterinarians, including primary care veterinarians and specialists in other fields, to ensure that the animal receives the best possible care

      • Strong educational background: A veterinary ophthalmologist must have a degree in veterinary medicine and be licensed to practice veterinary medicine
      • Specialized training in ophthalmology: After completing their degree in veterinary medicine, a veterinary ophthalmologist will undergo specialized training in ophthalmology, which includes a one-year internship followed by a three-year residency program in ophthalmology
      • Knowledge of ocular anatomy and physiology: A veterinary ophthalmologist must have a deep understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the eye and surrounding structures in a wide range of animal species
      • Diagnostic skills: A veterinary ophthalmologist must be skilled in the use of diagnostic tests and equipment, including ophthalmoscopes, tonometers, and ultrasound, to accurately diagnose ocular conditions in animals
      • Communication skills: A veterinary ophthalmologist must be able to communicate effectively with animal owners and other veterinary professionals to ensure that the animal receives the best possible care
