Job Description Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Leader Location: Las Vegas, NV Schedule: Full-Time Hybrid schedule may be available after probationary period. Must be available for weekly in-person work. Position Summary Provides leadership in Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) to ensure accurate clinical documentation, regulatory compliance, and reimbursement integrity. Identifies documentation improvement opportunities related to ICD-10, UHDDS, and CMS regulations. Oversees concurrent query processes and collaborates with physicians, Advanced Practice Professionals, HIM, Coding, Quality Improvement, and Revenue Cycle leadership to improve documentation quality and severity capture. Minimum Qualifications Candidates must meet one of the following pathways: Option 1 – RN Pathway Graduate of accredited nursing program 5 years clinical nursing experience 3 years CDI experience 2 years CDI leadership experience Active Nevada RN license CCDS, CCDS-O, or CDIP certification Option 2 – Physician Pathway International MD with 5 years acute care experience 1 year CDI experience 2 years CDI leadership experience CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CPC, or CPC-P certification CDIP, CCDS, or CCDS-O certification Option 3 – HIM/Coding Pathway Bachelor’s degree in HIM or HIT 4 years acute care coding and abstracting experience 2 years CDI leadership experience Knowledge MS-DRGs and APR-DRGs Severity of Illness (SOI) and Risk of Mortality (ROM) Medical necessity and quality measures HACs and PSIs Reimbursement methodologies Disease pathophysiology and pharmacology CMS and regulatory standards Clinical documentation compliance Skills Leadership and staff supervision Data analysis and trend identification Query writing and compliance oversight Medical record interpretation Regulatory interpretation Conflict management Advanced written communication Statistical analysis Cross-department collaboration Compensation & Benefits Retirement & Financial Benefits Pension vesting after 5 years 457 Deferred Compensation Plan No Social Security (FICA) deduction No Nevada State Income Tax Health & Insurance Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Employee-only coverage available for less than $20 per paycheck Comprehensive Group Health Plan Extended Illness Bank Paid Leave Consolidated Annual Leave (Vacation, Sick Leave, Personal Leave) Twelve scheduled holidays annually
