Position Summary: The Registered Nurse as a Labor and Delivery
Nurse performs the functions of assessing, planning, implementing
and evaluating care for patients.
* Meets Standards of Care and Standards of Practice. Supervises
* Promotes collaboration with physicians and personnel of other
* Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care
appropriate to patients served.
* Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development
over life span and possesses ability to assess data reflective of
patient status and interpret appropriate information needed to
identify patient requirements relative to his/her age specific
* Provides care needed as described in department policies and
* Completes a competency skills checklist within 3 months of

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of
Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
Current ACLS certification.
Current NRP certification.
AWHONN Fetal monitoring validation within 6 months of hire if
previously certified. If newly certified, required within first
STABLE current certification must be obtained within three (3)
months of Hire/Transfer.
Minimum of 1 year recent labor & delivery nursing experience, in a
Proficiency in surgical suite nursing procedures and skills
