Job Description:
JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple
western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint
Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4
develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training
environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft,
weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's
global challenges.
JOB SUMMARY
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Associate Kubernetes
Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will
support the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of our
Kubernetes infrastructure. Responsibilities:
Assist with the deployment and maintenance of Kubernetes clusters
and systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve basic Kubernetes related issues.
Monitor cluster performance and identify areas for improvement.
Implement and maintain basic security controls.
Collaborate with development teams to support the deployment of
applications to the Kubernetes infrastructure.
Collaborate with stakeholders, software developers, data
scientists, and the team to update a DevOps infrastructure that
meets requirements for 24x7 uptime, and efficient, frequent
software delivery.
Assist with managing Kubernetes virtualization infrastructure in
Linux, to support complex operational, development, and security
requirements.
Investigate and assist the deployment of monitoring, alerting and
logging tools for the DevOps infrastructure.
Document and version control the IT infrastructure.
Support and improve GitLab CI/CD system used for automating
deployments of infrastructure servers, Kubernetes cluster(s) and
applications.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Kubernetes and
related technologies. Ideal candidate will possess the following
skills and experience:
Skilled in all aspects of the software project life cycle:
feasibility, requirements, design, implementation, integration,
test, and deployment.
Basic knowledge of Kubernetes, including deployment and management
of clusters.
Understanding of cloud computing, networking, and security.
Familiarity with container orchestration, scaling, and
management.
Basic knowledge of Linux and virtualized systems.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot simple
issues.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team
environment.
Understanding of how to auto-scale nodes, pods and containers
Ideal candidate understands how to make on-prem infrastructure
elastic and highly available possessing similar attributes to Cloud
environments
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with mix of Helm charts, Dockerfiles,
Terraform, Ansible, Bash and YAML.
Experience in gathering metrics/logs from Kubernetes clusters
DevSecOps Toolchain: Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, BitBucket/Git,
Nexus/Artifactory, Fortify, Anchore/Grype, Maven, jUnit, Terraform,
Ansible.
PaaS: Kubernetes (RKE2)/Helm, Longhorn/Fleet, Docker, RHEL, Chef
Inspec, Keycloak, Prometheus and Grafana.
Relevant certifications in Kubernetes or cloud computing.
IaaS/Cloud Tool: VMWare, Terraform, Ansible, ACAS, OpenSCAP.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Will be asked to make functional the initiatives established by
management and will coordinate with other organizations as affected
by upgrades, capabilities, policy and procedures. Each employee
must read, understand, and implement the general and specific
operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all
plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to their job.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position involves work typical of an office environment with
no unusual hazards. There is occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds),
constant sitting and use of a computer terminal, constant use of
sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents,
constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and
constant mental alertness.
REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Associates or higher degree in Computer/Information Technology, or
equivalent academic/technical training. Possess 5 years related
experience or combination of experience in computer system basics
and/or related areas of expertise. Must possess and apply a broad
knowledge of principles, practices and procedures in computer
science, graphics, and information systems. Must have specific
experience in the use of MS window server environments and various
CAD/CAM, database, MS Office and Web enabled applications. The
incumbent must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able
to work under deadlines. Employee is expected to routinely cross
fields in the completion of somewhat difficult and varied
assignments. Must be capable of updating or repairing computer
systems. Must qualify for and maintain a government security
clearance and possess a valid, state issued driver's license.
