Job Description:

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges. JOB SUMMARY -ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES In this role, you will research and provide design level solutions for the current Wireless Systems within JT4 while considering availability, scalability, security, and manageability as appropriate. You will also perform network system engineering on a broad range of programs providing overall support for various business-critical networks. This involves working with customers to understand their technology and product needs, designing new systems, defining and developing new computing, network, and security technology products, and working with product development teams to implement them. In this role, you will work individually and in teams to perform internal research and development, respond to customer proposals, provide technical leadership, and advise product teams. --- Conducts research and reference reading to assist higher-level engineers in obtaining technical information and keeps informed of currently approved standards, codes and procedures applied to engineering specialty. --- Possess in-depth knowledge of cyber based wireless systems to include Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS), Global System for Mobile communications (GSM), Long-term Evolution (LTE), Fourth/Fifth generation Wireless (4G/5G). --- Performs engineering or other highly technical tasks that are varied and may be somewhat difficult in character. --- Strong knowledge and experience of Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OA&M) practices to include engineering and analysis under the supervision of senior wireless engineers. --- Plans and carries out successive engineering steps and resolves technical problems by standard practices and techniques, such as tolerance studies and design calculations. --- Able to sustain cyber systems and Internet Protocol (IP) infrastructure utilizing the latest and diverse performance and optimization tools. --- Reasonable and demonstrative knowledge and experience in Radio Frequency (RF) principals to include cell tower propagation, RF plotting, cellular inter-linking, field testing, neighboring, uplink-downlink testing as well as subscriber provisioning. --- Supports projects with limited scope or parts of more complex projects with detailed instruction on the intent and scope of the documents to be prepared. --- Be well versed in Mobile Switching Center (MSC)/Base Station Controller (BSC) OA&M functions, upgrades and provisioning. --- Generate sections of design specifications of more complex projects or complete specifications of less complex projects. --- Has demonstrable knowledge of IP functionality to include architecture, firewalls, and network access. --- Using computer-assisted test methods, conducts laboratory investigations on equipment or systems. --- Assists in preparation of reports, correspondence or technical studies. --- Able to assist with cellular network design and engineering to support network growth and adaptation. --- Studies currently approved standards, codes, and procedures applied to the engineering specialty. --- Prepare, deliver and submit technical presentations for in-process design and review meetings. --- Perform all position related duties as assigned or requested. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES Each employee must read, understand, and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to their job. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required. Travel to remote company work locations may be required. REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE A Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 4 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in engineering and a minimum of 2 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering are required for this position. In addition, an Engineer III must possess the following qualifications: --- Mastery of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering that enable the employee to serve as a technical authority on projects relating to the specific programs --- Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply the latest developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area --- Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools --- Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software --- Excellent communication and analytical skills --- Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines.
