POSITIONThe Clark County Information Technology Department is
seeking qualified candidates to apply for the GIS Analyst I/II
position on the GIS Management Office team. As a member of our
team, you will assist with planning, developing, and modifying
systems to create and maintain a comprehensive geographic and land
information system for County departments and various local
agencies. When requested, you will act as the County or agency
liaison with departmental staff for project development to
determine current automated or manual systems, define needs,
coordinate system integration, and define required output and user
documentation. This position will also be involved in planning and
sequencing processing steps for database creation, application,
display, and document production. As well as direct the work of and
instruct technicians performing data entry and mapping
work.Geographic Information Systems Analyst I : $30.32 - $47.03
HourlyGeographic Information Systems Analyst II : $32.74 - $50.81
HourlyThe Geographic Information Systems Analyst I is a training
underfill position, upon successful completion of the training
program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted
to Geographic Information Systems Analyst II .This examination will
establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current
and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6)
months at either level or may be extended as needed by Human
Resources.Human Resources reserves the right to call only the most

from membership in the union.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation and
Experience:Geographic Information Systems Analyst I - Equivalent to
a Bachelor's Degree in planning, engineering, computer science or
geographic studies or a field related to the work, AND one (1) year
of full-time experience in working with automated geographic
information systems. Experience in digitizing data or working with
geographic information system data may be substituted for the
education on a year for year basis.Geographic Information Systems
Analyst II - In addition to the above: Three (3) years of full-time
professional level experience in developing and implementing
automated geographic information systems.Qualifying education and
experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work

application.Licensing and Certification:Some positions may require
a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of
appointment.Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon

DUTIESPlans, develops, coordinates and modifies systems to create
and maintain a comprehensive geographic and land information system
for County departments and various local agencies. Confers with and
acts as the County or agency liaison with departmental staff to
determine current automated or manual systems, define needs,
coordinate system integration and define required output and user
documentation. Plans and sequences processing steps for database
creation, application, display and document production; performs
complex network modeling activities to ensure appropriate program
development and system coordination and application utility;
develops and designs complex analytical programs. Develops systems,
networks and applications documentation, user-training materials
and quality control procedures; prepares a variety of technical
reports, correspondence, manuals, procedures and other written
materials. Directs the work of and instructs technicians performing
data entry and mapping work. Performs a variety of analytical
studies related to the development and implementation of the GIS
system; evaluates alternatives, makes recommendations and prepares
technical reports. Makes presentations to representatives of other
agencies regarding the GIS system; explains system hardware and
software and ensures that applications, such as those for the
emergency response system, are appropriate. Monitors developments
in the field of geographic system usage, determines their potential
effect upon the County system recommends procedural and equipment
changes to ensure system updating. Contributes to the efficiency
and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by
offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active
member of a work team. Attends training meetings and upgrades
knowledge of GIS system use; applies and documents new techniques
as they are implemented. May operate land surveying equipment to
acquire GIS/Land surveying information. May perform cadastral
drafting for assessment purposes. May drive a personal or County
vehicle or be able to arrange for appropriate transportation to
attend off-site meetings. May drive a motor vehicle in order to
validate road conditions.PHYSICAL DEMANDSMobility to work in a
