ROLE of the POSITION
The Office of General Counsel at the University of Nevada, Las
Vegas seeks a Contracts Counsel. Under the general direction of the
General Counsel, the Contracts Counsel will provide complex
professional legal services to the administration of the
University, particularly the Department of Purchasing and
Contracts. Responsibilities to include drafting, developing and
negotiating complex purchasing related contracts, including
construction contracts, for the campus, as well as non-standard
revenue and other contracts; draft and maintain templates for
standard contracts, requests for proposals/qualifications, other
solicitations, supplier forms and other related documents; provide
assistance to Department of Purchasing and Contracts with content
for bids and other solicitations; develop and maintain templates,
forms and other content for self-help contracting web page;
contribute to policies and procedures to ensure efficient operation
of Department of Purchasing and Contracts; assure compliance with
all state and federal laws, as well as University and Nevada System
of Higher Education requirements in procurement process and related
contracting. Concurrent private practice is prohibited.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires graduation from an ABA accredited law school
and admission to practice law in any jurisdiction. Required
professional experience:
Minimum three (3) years contractual and transactional experience as
a licensed attorney.
Licensed to practice law and current or prospective member of the
State Bar of Nevada within twelve (12) Months of employment.
Limited Practice certifications under Nevada Supreme Court Rule
49.1 will not be accepted.
Special consideration will be given to applicants who possess the
following preferred qualifications:
At least five (5) years related professional experience.
Nevada public agency experience.
Representation of a K-12 or higher educational institution, board,
agency or system.
Nevada State Public Works Board practice.
Federal contracting experience.
Public agency purchasing / procurement practice.
Software/intellectual property contracts experience.
Construction/real estate development contract experience.
Must be available to travel occasionally and to work
weekends/evenings, as required.

SALARY RANGE
$97,850.00 - $114,802.11, depending on experience and preferred
qualifications. Salary competitive with those at similarly situated
institutions.
