The Registered Nurse as a Cardio-Thoracic Intensive Care Unit Resource Staff Nurse in Adult Critical Care performs the functions of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for patients. Meets Standards of Care and Standards of Practice, supervises assigned personnel and provides education and clinical support for the care of cardiac thoracic surgery patients. Promotes collaboration with physicians and personnel of other departments. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and staff support appropriate to patients served. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over life span and possesses ability to assess data reflective of patient status and interpret appropriate information needed to identify patient requirements relative to his/her age specific needs. Provides care needed as described in department policies and procedures. Completes a competency skills checklist within 3 months of employment; complies with hospital employee health, infection control, and safety management programs.

Qualifications Education:

• 
  
• Graduate from a school of nursing
  
• Successful completion of basic critical care course or equivalent training for this hospital--s critical care course
  
  Experience:
  
  
  
  • 
    
  • Minimum 1 year experience preferred in Cardiovascular Surgery ICU Recovery and Care
    
  • Complete CVICU Cardiac Care Course within 4 months of hire into CTICU
    
    License:
    
    
    
    • 
      
    • Current license to practice, as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nevada required
      
      Certification:
      
      
      
      • 
        
      • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
        
      • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within three (3) months of Hire/Transfer
        
      • CCRN preferred
