JT4 provides engineering and technical support to multiple (western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. We develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments, and prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and air crews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.Job Summary -- Essential Functions/Duties:Operations and maintenance technician, working under general technical guidance, who specializes in ground-based electronic systems.Supports operations and maintenance of one or more of the following systems: Ground to air radios, Ground Radar, Threat Simulators/Systems, transport networks, local area networks, microwave systems, targeting systems, remote site infrastructure, control tower voice switching systems, and/or other duties as required. Performs routine and complex preventive and remedial maintenance on assigned Range systems and other associated electronic equipment to the component level, as well as, troubleshooting complex problems and providing guidance to other technicians as required. The equipment includes but is not limited to electronic transmitting and receiving equipment, digital and analog circuits and computers, network equipment, industrial measuring and controlling equipment, microwave amplifiers and transmission lines, high voltage power supplies and keying circuits, indicators and displays, and camera/antenna positioning systems.Other Responsibilities:Each employee must read, understand, and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to the employee's job.Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment operations. Applies the principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturer's manuals, TO's, or similar documents.Work requires comprehension of the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence and in selecting tools and testing instruments.Work requires comprehensive knowledge of Internet Protocol (IP) addressing and the configuration of various network capable equipment.Performs as lead technician on projects and assignments as necessary. Assists engineering in circuit layout and analysis. In the absence of a supervisor or as directed, receives work requests and makes work assignments to other team municates effectively in both oral and written form. Establish and maintain successful work relationships with those contacted in the performance of this position; analyze and resolve problems, make decisions independently; work in a team environment; work under deadlines. Perform work in an ISO compliant/certified environment. Demonstrate an understanding of operations and maintenance reporting criteria.Working Conditions:Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor duties may be performed on even or uneven surfaces, which may be dry or wet. Outdoor duties may be performed on gravel or shingled roof. Climbing stairs, ladders, towers, and scaffolds, indoors or outdoors, is required. Government vehicle is used on an as-needed basis. Grease or oil may be found on working surfaces. Ability to work in a field environment with some shift work, at remote locations with occasional overnight assignments. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. (anything heavier requires two or more people or mechanical assistance). Travel to remote working locations may be required.DESIRED:Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or Graduate from an accredited two-year technical school with courses in Math, Basic Electronics, and Microwave Theory or military/commercial equivalent with emphasis on COMM or R.F. disciplines.Security + CertificationExperience working with various network equipment manufacturers -- Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, General Dynamics, Collins Aerospace.Requirements -- Education, Technical, and Work Experience:At least 3 years of hands on experience as a Technician operating and maintaining digital and analog electronic equipment resulting in an in-depth knowledge of systems theory of operation. Education and/or training from an accredited college or technical school with courses in Math, Basic Electronics, and Microwave Theory or military/commercial equivalent with emphasis on COMM or R.F. disciplines.Advanced knowledge of electronic test equipment used for preventive and remedial maintenance; e.g., oscilloscope, volt-ohm meters, frequency counters and generators, logic analyzers/emulators, computers, and waveform monitors.Additionally, some jobs may require the incumbent to obtain and maintain a government security clearance, state-issued driver's license, or other certifications or licenses that may affect an employee's ability to maintain employment.Must obtain Security + certification within 180 days of hire.DISCLAIMERThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
