RF Systems and Hardware EngineerAt Raytheon Missiles & Defense (RMD), you have the opportunity to try new things and make a bigger difference across a broader end-to-end solution, a richer technology and product set, an expanded range of disciplines, a growing global footprint and a more diverse team of colleagues and customers.Job Summary:The System Design & Architecture (SD&A) Directorate is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within RMD, responsible for defining customer needs, functional and product architecture, requirements definition and decomposition, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), system performance, and System Security Engineering (SSE).
The SD&A Directorate and Advanced Technology (AT) Program at RMD are seeking a multi-disciplinary engineer with RF Systems Engineering and Hardware experience to contribute to architecting new and advanced wideband hybrid electronic-photonics sensors and RF signal processing capabilities in support of research and development programs.We value diverse skills and experience, so don't hold back. Responsibilities to Anticipate:

• Support systems architectural design of emerging wideband electronic-photonic Hardware signal processing solutions (e.g. photonically-enabled channelization, true-time delay lines, etc.).
• Support selection of COTS/custom apertures, RF electronics, mixed-signal electronics, photonics (discrete and silicon photonics), and embedded/digital signal processing solutions for wideband electronic and hybrid electronic-photonic development programs.
• Support trade studies on various sensing systems and sub-systems related to wideband RF and hybrid electronic-photonic sensors.
• Support hybrid electronic-photonic sensing requirements development and requirement flow to its components.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of new/novel hybrid electronic-photonic capabilities in close collaboration with other disciplines to provide collaboration and transition opportunities.
• Support development and implementation of digital signal processing methodologies and algorithms in conjunction with electronics/hybrid systems.
• Identify strategic and emerging hybrid electronic-photonic sensing development opportunities.
• Support technical volume for white papers and proposals and lead independent research and development (IRAD) projects for the advancement of hybrid electronic-photonics sensors and systems.
• Ensures technical integrity and engineering execution across multiple Raytheon and subcontractor organizations
• Ensure balance of risk, performance, and cost.
• Be accountable for technical decisions.
• Communicate and collaborate with Program Management and Technical Leadership, Engineering Leadership, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and Customers.Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 5 years of prior relevant experience. In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Experience with high-speed DSP-based or FPGA-based signal processing using Xilinx, Intel, AMD, and Nvidia products or similar.
  • Experience with Matlab.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
    Qualifications We Value:
    • Experience leading mixed-signal and hybrid (electronic-photonic) trade studies and engineering efforts involving engineers across multiple disciplines.
    • Demonstrated excellence in interacting with customers and decision makers
    • Experience with high-performance mixed-signal systems (ADCs, DACs, FPGAs, etc.), to include requirements definition
    • Experience with state-of-the-art discrete and integrated photonic technologies (modulators, filters, detectors) for RF-over-fiber and digital applications
    • Experience with high-performance RF system design (VHF-W-band)
    • MS or PhD in Physics, Optics, Photonics, Circuits, Signal Processing, or other related engineering field
    • Excellent communication ability in verbal, written and presentation formats
    • Demonstrated ability to influence others to achieve technical and programmatic goals including external customers for funding opportunities
    • Excellent proactive problem-solving experience
    • Strong business strategic vision and the ability to develop and execute changes
    • Team thinker, player and builder
    • Prior active participation in a mentorship or coaching program involving several junior or mid-level engineers
    • Knowledge of DoD/Intelligence Community operational concepts
    • Experience working with the DoD and Intelligence Community Science and Technology organizations/agencies
