The Analyst position in Procurement Analytics will ensure master data consistency and provide a regular flow of spend analytics to category teams and Procurement leaders. The Procurement Analytics team enables the business to improve category spend by collecting and analyzing spend data and provides visibility into total spend activities across properties, departments, and suppliers. The Procurement Analytics function is responsible for aligning data strategy with business requirements, measuring performance to improve cross-functional decision-making, tracking key performance indicators, reporting category level savings and developing supplier market expertise to inform supplier negotiations. The Analyst will provide quantitative support for savings opportunities by tracking and interpreting spend data across MGM Resorts Internationals addressable spend. Success can be measured by the Analysts ability to effectively analyze spend data, proactively identify trends to inform spend decisions, and help achieve planned savings on programmatic categories per the Strategic Sourcing Plan. This position will contribute to strategic sourcing strategy, supplier selection and negotiations. The Analyst will interact regularly with the Manager of Procurement Analytics, Strategic Sourcing, Program Management, Purchasing, key stakeholders and third party data resources to inform category strategy and identify category spending and compliance trends. The Analyst must demonstrate strong data analytics skills and thoughtful communication. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and MGM Resorts International policies, practices and procedures. - Informs annual Strategic Sourcing Plan and category decision making by tracking, benchmarking and reporting key performance indicators (e.g., non-compliant spend, category spend drivers, realized savings, etc.). - Manages the collection and categorization of spend and supplier performance data to deliver consistent and credible analysis to inform category level strategies. - Performs complex data analysis to evaluate issues and develop insights; delivers recommendations for business improvements. - Ensures the integrity of all data and analysis related to areas of focus and delivers zero defect analysis. - Partners with members of the Procurement function to generate analysis and present insights in a timely manner to key team members. - Communicates status of work assignments as well as emerging insights of analyses and projects. - Works with team leadership to develop tracking capabilities of key initiatives, and provide monitoring of critical impact initiatives. - Creates regular analysis and reporting of spend and savings realized by property and category. - Creates regular analysis and reporting of supplier performance and assesses supplier risk (financial, CSR, corruption). - Provides input to forecasts and business cases based on strategic direction of category strategy. - Executes market intelligence gathering by leveraging external data sources and tools to enable tracking of category market. - Cultivates supplier market expertise to provide Procurement organization with an outlook on supplier landscape and competitive positioning (SWOT analyses). - Compiles category level key performance indicators for executive dashboard to inform annual Strategic Sourcing Plan and targets. - Builds category specific reports to be run on a scheduled or as-needed basis to inform and drive category savings levers (e.g., historical spend trends, cost increases, volume spikes, etc.). - Executes cost modeling / bottoms-up costing as needed for use in strategic sourcing events / negotiations. - Recommends new opportunities to grow or improve managed programs by monitoring customer feedback, tracking off-program spend and analyzing category demographics (e.g., supplier concentration). - Tracks and reports realized category savings across properties, identifies key areas of risk and recommends continuous improvement actions to reflect evolution of the business. - Analyzes supplier performance and profitability, detects potential risks and ecosystem changes, projects future capacity, forecasts switching costs, quantifies error rates and compares pricing vs. benchmarks to inform supplier negotiations and RFPs. - Provides quantitative inputs to supplier performance scorecards. - Identifies and recommends category-specific cost reduction opportunities, leveraging PMO staff and techniques such as total cost of ownership (TCO), should-cost modeling, value analysis, supplier rationalization, item rationalization, demand management or make/buy and lease/buy analysis. - Participates in continuous training required to keep team apprised of business situations as they affect Procurement policy. - Performs all other job-related duties as requested. Required: - Bachelors degree in quantitative or business related field. - At least 2 years of experience in an analytical role (e.g. finance). - Basic knowledge of and experience with analytical functionality within Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP, nested IF statements, pivot tables, and filters. - Previous experience or aptitude for developing slide presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint. - Previous experience with or aptitude for data collection, basic statistics and statistical measurement tools and data analysis. - Ability to perform various financial analyses where required (e.g., analyzing historical data, supplier landscape, etc.). - Ability to organize, interpret, and analyze large volumes of qualitative and quantitative data. - Ability to identify and assess patterns, trends, root causes, develop explanations and test solutions. - Ability to identify and assess problems and solutions, refer to applicable policies, identify options, and recommend appropriate courses of action. - Ability to work independently and consistently demonstrate a proactive problem solving approach, as well as follow-through in the performance of all tasks, projects, and communications. - Detailed knowledge of procurement and analytics systems. - Strong analytical capabilities and critical thinking skills. - Meticulous and detail oriented. - Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to prioritize work, and escalate conflicts and issues appropriately. - Flexibility to meet changing needs and requirements of business. - Demonstrated achievements that leverage understanding of the customer, the industry and key business drivers to generate breakthrough ideas that create sustainable value. - Excellent customer service skills. - Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts. - Professional appearance and demeanor. - Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays. - Highly skilled in the use of Microsoft Excel. - Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms. Preferred: - Previous experience with Procurement/Sourcing category level analytics and systems. - Previous experience working in a professional services setting, including top-tier strategy consulting or investment banking/finance. - Working knowledge of spend categories within Food and Beverage, Professional Services, OS & E, Facilities, FF & E and IT. - Knowledge of hospitality and/or casino operations. - Familiarity with the hospitality industry, change management, and how to improve operational performance in an efficient and effective manner. - Systems experience: Stratton Warren, Infinium, Coupa. - Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
